Scottish
Independence Guide: CPS
Communist Party of Scotland (CPS)
The Communist Party of Scotland (Partaidh
Co-Mhaoineach Nahalba) was
established in 1991 when the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) was
disbanded and re-formed as the Democratic Left think-tank. Many Communists in
Scotland disagreed with this decision and instead set up the CPS, with its
headquarters in Partick, Glasgow. The CPS sponsor a councillor in Fife. The
CPS strongly supports Scottish independence and have expressed support for both
of the new cross-party organisations, Independence First and the
Independence
Convention.
The CPS are helping IF establish a branch in
Glasgow and recently their National Co-Chair Eric Canning spoke at IF's
Edinburgh launch see news section
